PRAYAGRAJ: A 51-year-old yoga trainer died of heart attack while teaching Surya Namaskar at the grounds of Kabir ashram near Curzon bridge in the city on Monday morning.
The deceased Om Prakash Tripathi, a resident of Shankarghat area (Teliarganj), was assistant resource person (ARP) in the state basic education department and posted at Soraon.
As per Tripathi’s friend and neighbour, Hari Om Pandey: “On Monday, Tripathi collapsed and became unconscious while teaching yoga. He was rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Everyone in the family and neighbourhood are in a state of shock as barring being a diabetic, he was absolutely healthy and has been teaching us yoga for the last many years.” Pandey added that Tripathi and his wife Archana had no kids. His father retired as inspector from Madhya Pradesh police and used to live with Tripathi’s brother at Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. Tripathi has been cremated on Tuesday morning.
BSA Prayagraj, Praveen Tiwari, who was among the first to reach Tripathi’s house after getting the news on Monday said: “It is very shocking and sad for all of us. He was a very capable asset to the department.” SHO Shivkuti, Manish Tripathi said: “According to the postmortem report, the cause of his death was heart attack.”
