NAVI MUMBAI: A real estate agent was shot at by two bike-borne men who intercepted her car in Panvel on Wednesday evening. The victim, Rupali Patil, suffered a bullet injury to the leg and is recuperating at Apollo Hospital in CBD-Belapur. Police suspect she was targeted due to some business rivalry.
“Around 6.30pm, Patil left her Panvel office and was travelling to her Uran residence with her cousin brother, who was driving her car, when the incident took place,” DCP (zone-II) Pankaj Dahane said. “Two men on a bike intercepted the car and the pillion rider fired one round from a revolver. The bullet pierced her leg. The duo then sped away on the bike.”
Vijay Kadbane, senior inspector of Panvel city police station, said, “Prima facie, the woman was attacked due to business rivalry. We are checking the CCTV footage to identify the shooter.”
On March 15, two men on a bike shot dead builder Savji Manjeri in Nerul. Later, police arrested four men, including the shooter.
