Prayagraj: With the help of proper diagnosis and regular treatment TB can be cured completely and it is necessary to develop awareness among the masses about this, said an expert on World Tuberculosis Eradication Day (Nikshay Diwas) on Friday. Speaking during an awareness programme organised under the auspices of the health science education branch of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), director of the department prof GS Shukla, explained in detail the causes, symptoms and prevention of tuberculosis. “TB is a completely curable disease with the help of proper diagnosis and regular treatment. It is necessary to develop awareness among people about its fallacy. The state government is providing very commendable welfare programmes and facilities for TB patients at every health centre free of cost. This awareness must be created among the people that in case of any health doubt, they must visit these health centres and get examined follow complete treatment as per the doctor’s advice.” During the event, the youth of the villages adopted by the university were sensitised about the importance of developing a strong immune system. Also, they were inspired by the university to find out about TB patients in their respective villages, to make them aware and take them to the nearest health centre. TNN
