Prayagraj: In a tragic incident, a man allegedly stabbed his 35- year-old wife more than a dozen times at her brother’s house in Chatnaag area under the limits of Jhunsi police station on Monday morning. The woman succumbed to her injuries during treatment at SRN hospital on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Neelam Mishra, a resident of Tharwai. ACP (Jhunsi) Chirag Jain told TOI that police have arrested the accused husband identified as Ashish Mishra, a resident of Tharwai and sent him behind the bars. ACP said, “Ashish got married to Neelam in 2009 and they had three kids. Brother of the deceased woman, Rajendra Kumar Pandey has lodged an FIR against seven persons including husband, in-laws and others under section 498 A, 323, 504, 506, 452, 307 , and 324 of IPC and section 3 and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act with Jhunsi police asserting that they had been harassing and thrashing his sister for dowry.” Pandey told police that the husband and others had thrashed his sister on August 18 and threatened her of dire consequences. On August 19, the brother-in-law of woman Deepak Mishra had dropped Neelam at her brother’s house and since then, she was staying at brother’s house.
On Monday (August 21), the husband Ashish Mishra arrived his house at around 8:30 am and went straight to Neelam’s room where she was sleeping. The husband repeatedly stabbed his wife on neck and abdomen region and left her critically injured. When the family members rushed towards the room after hearing cries and found Neelam profusely bleeding while husband managed to escape. The family members admitted the injured woman at SRN hospital on Monday but she succumbed to her injuries.
