Spurned man stabs his 17-year-old cousin 18 times in Gujarat | Rajkot News

RAJKOT: When she rejected her cousin’s proposal of marriage, the love-lorn man stabbed the 17-year-old girl 18 times on Friday evening and fled, leaving her to drown in her own pool of blood.
However, the teen from Keshod in Junagadh district survived the brutal attack and is currently under treatment at Rajkot civil hospital. Based on the girl’s statement, Rajkot police informed the Keshod police to register an offence.
According to the police, the 23-year-old accused Kishan Bavaji from Sasan came to Keshod on Friday evening when the girl was alone at her home. The girl, whose mother had expired earlier has a younger sister who had gone out to buy something from a nearby shop.
Bavaji, who was angry with the teen as she had stopped talking to him, renewed his marriage proposal, which she again refused. Blinded by rage, accused started stabbing the girl innumerable times even before she could understand what was happening and in the attack received 18 wounds.
The assailant continued to stab the girl till she fainted before he fled the spot. When her sister returned home, she found the victim lying in a pool of blood and immediately informed her father and also called 108 ambulance.
She was first taken to Keshod hospital from where she was taken to Junagadh civil hospital and then brought to Rajkot civil hospital for treatment.
PSI of Keshod , P K Gadhvi said, “The accused was forcing the girl to marry him and was harassing her to keep relationship with him for the past two years. We suspect that he came with the intention of attacking her and entered the house after confirming that she was alone. We have initiated the process to register an offence.”
