Mango is the main fruit crop of Valsad district. Farmers involved in mango cultivation will get Karipak production in Ambawadi next May-June. Fruit flies cause damage to an estimated 15-20% of caripak. The female fruit fly bores holes under the mango bark and lays its eggs and the hatchlings eat the fruit embryos and such infested fruits develop rot and the fruits fall to the ground, reducing the quality and yield of mangoes. To prevent damage to caripak by fruit fly, maintaining cleanliness in Ambawadi is a priority for integrated pest management of fruit fly, frequent plowing or harrowing around trees in Ambawadi during summer can destroy fruit fly cochetta.

The fallen fruits in Ambawadi should be buried in a deep pit with a weed and destroyed in time or the damaged mango fruits should be kept in a plastic bag by filling the weed with a weed and tying the bag so that the fruit fly caterpillars will be destroyed by suffocation. For fruit fly control, when mangoes are egg-shaped on Ambazad, Methyl eugenol based Navroji stone house fruit fly trap developed by Navsari Agricultural University should be placed in the number of 10-12 per hectare. Contact Agricultural Experimental Centre, Paria, Pardi (Dr. Sachin M. Chavan, Md. No. 97128 68518) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ambheti Kaprada, Valsad (Dr. Kamleshbhai Patel, Md. No. 94268 89418) to obtain fruit fly trap. Karva Valsad Deputy Horticulture Director has said.
