Prayagraj: Rahul Pal, the brother of SP MLA Puja Pal, alleged that some youths hurled crude bombs on his car when he was returning home in Dhoomanganj area of Prayagraj on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred on the day a Prayagraj court awarded life term to Atiq Ahmed for the kidnapping of Umesh Pal — the prime witness in the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal. Puja Pal is the widow of Raju Pal and is a Samajwadi Party MLA from Chail seat in Kaushambi.
Rahul Pal filed a police complaint after which senior police officials swung into action. Police probe, however, revealed that two unidentified youths were bursting firecrackers which Rahul thought were crude bombs.
DCP (city) Deepak Bhuker told TOI: “Neewa area resident Rahul Pal had contacted Dhoomanganj police station on Tuesday night alleging that some unknown persons had hurled crude bombs on his SUV. A police team led by ACP ( Dhoomanganj) inspected the spot and initial police investigations revealed that two youths were bursting firecrackers.”
Police drew the conclusion after checking the CCTV footage in which two youths were seen bursting crackers. Police also spoke to shopkeepers and locals who claimed that two youths were bursting crackers. DCP, however, said, “We will probe all aspects and action would be initiated accordingly.”
