BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Saturday cleared five projects worth Rs 35,760 crore which have the potential to create 38,100 jobs, officials said.
The High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA), chaired by chief minister Naveen Patnaik, approved two steel projects and one each in green energy and equipment, chemicals and technical textile sectors, for which investment intent were received during Make in Odisha Conclave 2022.
The projects will come up in Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur and Keonjhar districts.
The panel approved the proposal of WAREE Energies Limited’s proposal worth Rs 25,000 crore to set up an integrated solar equipment manufacturing complex at Dhenkanal. “It is expected to generate jobs for 14,000 people in the state. It will be largest such manufacturing facility in eastern India,” a government official said.
The committee also gave its nod to Super Smelters Limited’s plan to setup an integrated steel plant of 1.8 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) capacity in Keonjhar district. The company will invest Rs 5,436.10 crore and provide employment opportunities to 19,000 people.
The HLCA also approved Kashvi Power and Steel Private Limited’s proposal to establish an integrated steel plant in Keonjhar district at an investment of Rs 1,600 crore. The 0.55 MTPA capacity plant will provide employment to more than 3,500 people, officials said.
In the technical textile sector, the committee gave its go ahead to a project by MCPI Private Limited. At an investment of Rs 2,223.25 crore, the company proposes to set up a manufacturing unit for polyester, fabrics and yarns. The project will give provide employment to more than 1,150 people at Bhadrak Technical Textile Park.
The government also approved a proposal of IV Dhunseri Petrochem Industries Ltd to set up bottle grade PET resin plant with a capacity of 60,000 MT per annum in Jagatsinghpur at an investment of Rs 1,500 crore and is expected to create jobs for more than 500 people.
