Naveen: 43 Lakh Farmers Get ₹2k Aid Under State’s Kalia Scheme | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday transferred Rs 2,000 each to the bank accounts of 43 lakh farmers under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (Kalia) scheme on the occasion of Utkal Divas (Odisha Statehood Day).
While congratulating the farmers ‘for making Odisha self-reliant in the production of food grains and in providing food grains to the whole country’, Naveen said, “Development of the state is closely linked to the welfare of the farmers and we wanted to start the new financial year by providing this assistance to the farmers on an auspicious day like today.”
While listing the steps taken by the government for improving agriculture, Naveen advised the farmers to use machines and modern equipment to increase farm productivity. Naveen advised the farmersto focus on crop diversification as the government is implementing several grain-based missions to boost the production of nutritious food.
Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu also took to the micro-blogging site to convey her wishes to the state. “My greetings to fellow citizens, especially to the people of the state on Odisha Day. With abundant natural resources, skilled and industrious people, Odisha has the potential to be the growth engine of our economy. My best wishes for a bright future of the people of Odisha,” Murmu said.
PM Narendra Modi wished the state’s residents on the occasion on Twitter. “This is a day to acknowledge the rich role of Odisha, Odia people and Odia culture in the progress of our nation. May the people of Odisha be blessed with good health and prosperity in the days to come,” he tweeted.
The state government has decided to set up a museum complex at the birthplace of Madhusudan Das, the founder of Utkal Sammilani, who spearheaded the movement to form Odisha as a separate state.
5T secretary V K Pandian, who was at Satyabhamapur in Cuttack district, said a light and sound show on the life and achievement of Das will be organised.
