Mom-son duo held for killing woman in Chennai | Chennai News

CHENNAI: Three days after a woman was believed to have died by suicide, police found that her husband and mother-in law had strangled her to death in Tambaram demanding dowry.
The deceased Logapriya, 28, was married to Gokulakannan from Amarambedu village in Somangalam about eight months ago. On Tuesday morning, Gokulakannan informed the police that his wife killed herself. Police sent the body for postmorterm examination. Meanwhile, Logapriya‘s parents alleged dowry harassment by Gokulakannan and his mother Rajeswari and lodged a complaint.
The postmortem report confirmed that the victim sustained injuries and was strangled. Police who carried out probe, found that the mother-son duo killed Logapriya and staged it as a case of suicide.
Police said, the accused have been harassing the victim for the past few months demanding more dowry from her family. On Monday night when an argument broke out between them, Gokulakannan attacked Logapriya, strangled her to death and hung her. The Somangalam police altered the section to murder and remanded them in judicial custody. They confessed to have murdered her. Further investigations on.
