Likewise, volunteers of district environment committee with help of forest department and police have also came forward to take care of an injured sarus crane who was spotted injured near Fatanpur road on Lucknow -Varanasi highway in Pratapgarh district two days back. Member of district environment committee and head of Paryavaran Sena, an NGO working for environment protection, Ajay Krantikari told TOI, “Volunteers came to know about an injured sarus crane. We called up officials of forest department and doctors after spotting that sarus had severe swelling in his legs. Injured sarus was given immediate medical attention as such, condition of sarus improved and returned to its natural habitat.”
