Bhubaneswar: A 28-year-old man was found hanging in a hotel room in Khandagiri area on Sunday.
Police identified the deceased as Durga Prasad Mishra, a contractor from Niali area in Cuttack district. Mishra’s family members lodged a complaint with Khandagiri police alleging his son was killed, even though the police claimed he had died by suicide.
As per the police, Mishra and his girlfriend and another couple, had checked into the hotel on Saturday to celebrate one of their birthday. “We checked the CCTV footage of the hotel and did not come across any foul play behind his death. Mishra had an altercation with his girlfriend and later he hung himself to death. We have recorded the girl’s statement,” a police officer said.
