CHENNAI: Cricket fans heading to M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk to watch IPL matches could travel in metro trains for free or catch the action live on large screens put up at five metro stations.
Chennai Metro Rail Limited has tied up with Chennai Super Kings to provide free metro train ride for IPL and CSK fans on all match days in the city in April and May. They can show the same ticket to return home after the match and need not buy separate train tickets.
Feeder buses will be available at the station to take fans to the stadium and back. Metro train services will be extended by 90 minutes on days when there are matches in Chennai.
Large LED screens will be put up in five metro stations — Nandanam, Vadapalani, Wimco Nagar, Thirumangalam and Central Metro — with seating facility for fans to watch the matches live. It will start on April 3. People will be charged Rs 10 per hour. CMRL has tied up with Mark Metro to make the arrangements.
