KRISHNAGIRI: As many as 30 goats and an equal number of sheep were crushed to death when a truck carrying them overturned near Kurubarapalli in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu Friday night.
Truck owner and driver K Shankar, 31, and his friends M Nagaraj, 32, and S Ramesh, 31, suffered minor injuries in the accident. They hail from Papparapatty in Dharmapuri district.
The accident happened around 11pm when they were returning to Papparapatty after buying goats and sheep from Maharashtra.
There was a damaged tyre lying on the road. Shankar tried to avoid the vehicle hitting the tyre. The truck hit the median on a bridge and overturned. The goats and sheep were crushed to death.
The Kurubarapalli police registered a case.
