Delhi Road Accident News: 15-year-old dies in head-on collision of scooter, crane in Delhi’s Keshavpuram | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: A 15-year-old boy died and his friend was injured after their scooter allegedly had a head-on collision with a crane in northwest Delhi’s Keshavpuram on Sunday. Police inquiry revealed that both of them had gone for a joyride after dinner.
The deceased has been identified as Arib, who had recently given his tenth standard exam. His friend Irfan (18) is still receiving treatment. Both were residents of Inderlok.
Police said they received a PCR call at midnight about the incident on the carriageway towards Inderlok. “Both victims were rushed to the hospital, where Arib was declared dead on arrival,” an officer said.
“Their friends were in other vehicles. The crane was heading back after completing its work,” the officer said. The crane driver fled the scene, leaving the two boys injured on the road, police said. People around rushed in and police were alerted. “The crane has been with a government agency on a contractual basis,” the officer said.
Deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Jitender Kumar Meena said a case had been registered under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC.
The accused has been identified and efforts are being made to nab him, police said. Cops are also scanning CCTV cameras near the area to ascertain the sequence of events.
