- Department of Botany will soon apply QR codes to the trees of the entire university
The Botany Department of the University will identify the trees of the Faculty of Science. As many as 350 trees can be identified with the help of QR codes. 80 trees have been QR coded. The Department of Botany will in the near future put the QR code on the trees of the entire university.
The trees will be QR coded in the botanical garden of the university, the garden in front of the science faculty and the botanical garden in the hostel campus. As soon as the QR code is scanned from the mobile, the information about the name of the tree, its botanical name, its hometown, its features and what are its uses etc. will come on the mobile. With the help of Garden Supervisor Snehalben Chavda of Botany Department and students of Botany Department, the work to install QR code has been started. Senior professor Dr. P. S. Nagar says that it is not possible for us to put QR code on every tree, but the target is to put QR code on one tree of each species.
An experiment was also carried out by the Corporation in Kamatibagh
In Kamatibagh also, QR codes on different species of trees were affixed on various trees 7 years ago. Even now some trees in Kamatibagh have QR codes which can be used to get information about the tree.
