- Damage survey conducted in 24 districts: Agriculture Minister
Crops have been damaged in the state due to unseasonal rains in the month of March with strong winds. Responding to this matter in the Assembly House, Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel said that in 18 days in the month of March, more than 10 mm of unseasonal rain has been recorded in 70 talukas of 24 districts. As a result, crops like mango, cumin, gram, coriander, wheat, isbagul have been damaged. Hence, a survey has been conducted in 16 districts and if 33 percent or more loss is found, compensation will be given to the farmers.

The Agriculture Minister also made it clear to the farmers that the compensation will be paid only if the loss is as per the rules. A small-marginal farmer in an area with 33 percent or more loss in non-irrigated cultivation will receive Rs. 6800, in irrigated plantation Rs. 13,500 per hectare, for perennial crops Rs. 18 thousand will be paid within the acreage limit. While non-marginal farmers get Rs. 6800 per hectare for non-irrigated plantations, Rs. per hectare for irrigated plantations. 13,500 and for perennial crops Rs. 18 thousand assistance will be paid as per norms.
